Finewood Flooring has purchased a pellet mill that will turn sawdust into pellets.
We are in the process of installing the new pellet mill in a new building, and are hoping to have pellets for wood pellet stoves for sale early in 2008.
In the past, we have already been using a portion of our sawdust for the heating of our manufacturing facilities. The remaining sawdust will now be used for the production of pellets.
Also, we are grinding all waste wood, which has been available to the public in the past, into sawdust.
As a result, neither scrap wood nor sawdust will be available from Finewood Flooring anymore.
As part of our effort to be an environmentally sustainable manufacturing plant, we will create minimal waste by turning all sawdust into wood pellets.

Finewood Flooring is introducing a new product: Honduras Pitch Pine.
This species of Pine (Pinus oocarpa) is similar in grain pattern and colour to Southern Heart Pine. The grain pattern is straight, the sapwood varies from yellowish to brown, and the heartwood is reddish brown.
Honduras Pitch Pine is a very hard Softwood, in fact it is harder than Black Cherry or Black Walnut which are hardwoods commonly used for flooring. Honduras Pitch Pine is three times as hard as Eastern White Pine, which grows in Nova Scotia.
We offer Honduras Pitch Pine flooring in 4 side tongue and groove, with bevel edge and pre-sanded. Lengths are exceptionally long and range from 3' to 8'. Our Select Grade is clear and contains only sapwood. Our Country Grade has colour variation between the heartwood and sapwood, and also contains stable knots.
